About the Event
Keen on climate action?
Rising Tide is building a mass movement, oriented around blockading the world’s biggest coal port, in Newcastle.
Come to the Hall on Sunday 16th at 4.30pm to see a 20-minute film about Rising Tide and/or join in a discussion about the possibility of getting something going at Deans Marsh at 5pm.
Hosted by community member Antonia Settle. She shares "I took my family to the 2024 blockade of the world’s largest coal port, in Newcastle, NSW. The blockade was amazingly well organized and reflected great strategizing and a solid approach to advocating for NO NEW FOSSIL FUELS including a really positive emphasis on supporting the fossil fuel workforce for a just transition."
"There is really impressive momentum building through this annual blockade and I think it offers a really exciting opportunity to get involved in pressing the government to pushback on fossil fuel interests.’’ she said.
